Poem #1; Unattainable

You say you love birds, I say I love the sky.

You say you love the flower, I say I love it’s thorn.

You say you love the wind, I say I love the air.

You say you love the plant, I say I love its roots.

You say you love the rain, I say I love the storms.

You say you love the full moon, I say I love the tide it brings.

You say you love peace, I say I love disasters.

See, that’s the difference between your love and mine.

While you can touch it, I don’t have the luxury to embrace it in my arms.

While you can linger in its sweet smell, I bleed a little in the process.

While you get to be blown away by your lover, all I get is to feel its presence.

While you get to see and feel them, I have to live by knowing it inheres under the cursed turf.

While your love gently wets you, mine drenches me and leaves me cold and vulnerable.

While you can live in its light, I have to live in its storms.

While yours is loved by all, mine is loathed by many.

See, that’s the difference between your love and mine.
You are in love with the trunks of the trees while I have fallen for its canopy.

Unreachable, unattainable.
